2 Corinthians 1: 21Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
The seal on the new believer is an earnest or down payment which assures that continuance in the faith, will lead to the release of the full measure or Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
