Giving is not a function of what you have but the heart. Some people are not showing mercy because they think they don't have enough to spare. As a result of this, they close their ears and eyes to the need of others. Have we wondered how the lady down our street is coping with young children, the beggar on the street, the poor in the villages, the smiley sister at church who has no food at home? If you have 2 shoes, it means there is an extra for giving away. May the Lord give us the grace to be compassionate. It will earn us an entrance to heaven than mere church attendance.
