The complete shield
Looking back to the History of the Wars of the olden days, which were so brutal in their times, calls for reflection. We visited a castle, and one room displayed Tudor times armour and weapons. The battles were fought with spears, axes, knives and daggers. The complete iron shields were sure to protect you from those weapons, yet they were killed like chickens. Diligently examining them also made me question how much flexibility they would have had to fight effectively because they looked so restrictive. It would have been difficult wars with gruesome deaths.
Wars have continued, both physical, social, psychological and spiritual. I couldn't imagine being in any of those horrible fights. My mind went straight to what our Lord Jesus has purchased for humanity. The battle He fights for us against Satan and demons who are so wicked in dealing with anybody. I reflected on God's goodness towards us and imagined if it had not been for the Lord, Satan would have made a mince out of our flesh. The following Scriptures came real to me:
And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD 's, and he will give you into our hands. 1 Samuel 17:47 KJV
O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, Thou hast covered my head in the day of battle. Psalm 140:7 KJV
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:15 KJV
Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. Zechariah 14:3 (KJV)
Fight against satan is not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. A battle four-fold more lethal than any nuclear weapon. No carnal weapon can shield the arrows of Satan, just as we know that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.
In the modern era, we have bulletproofs and helmets that do not cover the face and legs, so they are incomplete. But we are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power Colossians 2:10 KJV.
I was excited and grateful to God for our complete shield in Christ Jesus. He is a Strong Tower, and the righteous run into him, and he is safe. The blood of Jesus covers us from the arrows of demons. We have the helmet of salvation to protect our heads from satanic influences and thoughts. We have the eye salve to keep us from all appearances of evil. We have the shield of faith to declare His might, promises and affirmations. We have the Word of God as our sword to cut asunder the whirls of the enemy. We have the belt of truth which holds us firm in life. We have our strong shoes to match on with the Gospel.
The crown of it all are these Scriptures:
I am with you all the way even unto the end of the earth. Amen. Matt28:20. HalleluYah!!!!
Do not fear, for the battle is not yours but the Lord's. 2 Chronicles 20:15 . Be strong and of good courage. Joshua 10:25. The Egyptians you see today, you shall see no more. Exodus 13:14. They will come in one way, but I will scatter them in seven ways. Deuteronomy 28:7. Do not fear nor be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8. Pursue for you will overtake them and recover all. 1 Samuel 30:8. Fight the good fight of faith. Wow! I can go on and on.
The Lord will never fail us. He will go before us and has conquered Satan. God is with us, Emmanuel!. The burst of the song:
'O Lord, we magnify your name for the good things you have done, for the battles you have fought, only you are worthy of our praise we magnify your name'.
Thank You, Jesus. You have made it easy; we only speak the word, and the battle is done. Our faith, trust, and belief in you bring us victory. We are so grateful. I wish the kings of then knew this much; it would have been easy for them. Glory be to God. What a great privilege to know you, Lord.
