Not by bread alone

As we go through the seasons of life, it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the day, the hour, the week. We look up and see our time past has been spent mostly on caring for things of the earth, not the things of heaven.
“It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4 KJV
The scripture above, Man shall not live by bread alone, was recited by Yeshua Jesus during His wilderness experience. Though he was hungered and had fasted for 40 days, he understood the significance of hungering after the word, and specifically the word of God.
His hunger was inconsequential compared to His need and desire to hear from Our Father in Heaven. Actually, he was purposely led in the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tested and strengthened; tested by Satan while equally being strengthened by the Word.
The Word in Him, the holy scriptures and the words that proceeded from the mouth of His Father, ‘this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased’ Matthew 3:17; were the catalysts that carried, encouraged, and ensured victory over Satan and his wiles.
We have access to this same strength which is released by the word of God. We are privy to the voice of our Father as we draw closer to Him and incline our ears to hear what He is saying to us, in the now! James 4:8.
The Lord is no respecter of person - Romans 2:11. What He does for one, He will do for another. It’s up to us to desire the bread of the word. When we make time to do that, we will hunger and thirst no more.
