New Year: New Marvellous Things
New Year: New Marvellous Things
Popular sales at the end of each year are calendars, journals, diaries and year planners. Their first pages have resolutions, aspirations and goals to achieve. We have our year planned out on the planners. Many reflect and make strong decisions, but how many carry them through? The best of us last for a few months, and most would have forgotten by the middle of the year.
In some cultures, bins, old clothes, waste, and anything you don’t want are thrown away at 11.45 pm on 31st December, with songs and chanting that the old year should go empty-handed. The new year should come with new things.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Revelation 21:5 (KJV)
God keeps His word and covenant. They are sure and certain. He does His part, and no one can annul it. Therefore, all things about you shall be new. Your youth shall be renewed. Fresh grace poured out on you. You will be led beside still waters, and your soul shall be restored. You will be under the shadow of the Almighty. Your steps shall be ordered. You will not be confounded or dismayed. Joy and peace shall well up from your bowels. You shall be strong. He shall provide for you. Good success shall you see, and all you do shall prosper. Your prayers shall be answered, and God shall show you great and mighty things. His countenance shall shine upon you. Goodness and mercy shall follow all the days of your life.
If the Lord will then make all these new, here comes our part:
A new heart to carry all the new things, as we will not put new wine into an old wine bottle. Matthew 9:17(KJV). We have to wash away the old, sinful tendencies so the beauty of the new can be seen and admired.
A renewed mind created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:21-24 (KJV). Your mindset will define you. Determine that right standing with God and true purity will be your watchword this year. Satan fears a holy person.
Put on the new man , which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Colossians 3:10 (KJV). Sometimes we forget who we are and the promises. Knowledge will keep us abreast of God’s promises and apply them to every situation.
We have to talk about this promise, sing it, breathe it and show it off. No one hides a good thing or progress. Let this testament be lodged in our being all through the year. Shakings may come, but stand firm on it. God is not man and will never change.
