Celebration without the celebrant

I asked my daughter who just turned 18 what it will look like to celebrate her birthday without her. She just said, “pointless.” My youngest son said “Imagine it is my birthday, and you all went to a fancy restaurant, eating and enjoying yourself without me, I will not be happy. That will be the saddest thing to happen.” This is exactly what happens every 25th of December. To rub it in, we repeat it year after year when actually he was not born in December. We don’t really care how sad and disappointed Yeshua Hamashiach, Jesus the Messiah feels.
That reminds me of some hilarious clips of people celebrating during the Royal Wedding in some countries. They did their best to make it worthwhile, pretended most things, but it was never the same. It would have been better to sit and watch than what they embarked on. This is how it is at Christmas, celebrating the unknown. There is no way you will get it right.
There is absolutely no need to celebrate someone who we have no room for. Frankly, it is a farce. No wonder this season is marked with high suicidal rates, loneliness, robbery, extortion, cheating, killing, drunkenness, commerce, fornication and adultery, accidents, idol worship, horrors and evil acts. In some countries, it is the time to array all demonic masquerades and idols. Celebration without the celebrant is a paradox!
Do you know Jesus? Have you been washed by his blood? Have you been delivered from sin and Satan? Have you received Him in your heart? The day The King of Glory is born in your heart is your day of celebration. This celebration should be an everyday event because you are filled with gratitude for the redemption. He came that we may have life more abundantly. He is the way, the truth, and life. He came that we may have free access to The Father. He defeated Satan on our behalf and set us free to go and sin no more. What glorious freedom! Should we allow any pagan festival to corrupt or becloud this memory.
What should the celebration be? Unto us a redeemer is born, my counsellor to guide me in all truth, the Mighty One to deliver me, my Father who cares and loves, my peace when trouble blows, my justifier.
When we invite Christ into our hearts, we do not merely acknowledge the celebrant but celebrate with Him as He sups with us. Imagine the distinction of celebrating a jubilee with the king himself. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 KJV
Let’s get it right: what matters to Yeshua Hamashiach, Jesus the Messiah is to celebrate with him at the Marriage Supper of The Lamb. He still wants to be part of the celebration, and we can’t keep shutting Him out.
