Critical thinkers

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. Mark 2:3-5 (KJV)

These are people who get the job done. You could see faith in action, determination, perseverance, boldness and flexibility; they think differently. I want them in my team. They brought the man sick of palsy. There was no way to get him to Jesus because of the press.

Undeterred by anything, their “sixth sense” kicked in. They headed for the roof, broke through it and let the man down. Very strategic! They had no initial plan to go through the roof. They acted as the occasion arose.

How they did it, the details were not given. They may or may not have borrowed a ladder, or perhaps they climbed the roof some other way. Whether they broke the ceiling with a hammer or by hand, it’s left for us to imagine. When determination is the key driver, half of the sail is complete. Carrying the bed up to the roof must have taken some skill and strength.

Come to think of it, that was not their house. Did they consider the consequences? They might have weighed it and concluded that the benefit outweighed the cost. If this man was healed, they could discuss the repairs, and the healed man could work and repay his debt. They could also afford the cost of repair.

Now, pause! Take this question for yourself. Are you able to sacrifice this much for others?

Whatever made them do what they did shows that some benefits outweigh certain costs, and this instance is one of such. It brought them admiration and commendation till this day. Their faith worked. They reminded me of David’s three mighty men of war who were so courageous and went to the garrison of the Philistines to get water from the wells of Bethlehem for David to drink, 1 Chronicles 11:15-19.

Many today are laid-back and unmotivated to do anything. Such would have stayed back in the crowd, humming all excuses and probably would have taken the man back. In a team of this kind of people, their many questions will drive you crazy, yet they offer no initiative. They want everything done for them.

This year, we must get the job done. We can’t watch things go by us without getting our portion.

Every spirit that demotivates you, drags you down and causes you to act less is bound in Jesus’ name, Amen.

I pray for the spirit of wisdom, boldness, strength, persuasion, courage, discernment, determination and grace to be on you in Jesus’ name, Amen.

I pray you will not be deterred, discouraged or subdued and will overcome any obstacle in Jesus’ name, Amen.

I pray every mountain to be made plain, every sea to part, every fire quenched, limitations taken out of the way in Jesus’ name, Amen.

As this man was healed, so shall you be healed, in Jesus’ name, Amen. Go in this might in 2026. The good Lord be with you. Amen.

The tasks ahead must be accomplished this 2026. I have confidence in the finish work of the Cross that I can do all things through Christ Jesus. Is there anything to hard for God? No! What stands out in this article is, He will make a way where there seems to be no way

God's people must know what they want, remain courageous, undeterred and alert to the prompt of the Holy Spirit at all times; no matter the cost. The men who brought the sick man to Jesus through the roof are faith heroes. Thanks Pastor Grace.

Pastor Grace do you know what, there is this great spirit of unity amongst the people, imagine if there was no passion and unity ,maybe disagreement amongst them oh I can't oo,ohhham busy ooo, ohhhi cannot sacrifice my time,oh I don't have the strength You know we see this a lot in the body of Christ as a result work not done Thank God all had passion and was in unity One accord spirit moves mountain The unity aided to the great healing of that man The unity in the upper room made a great fulfilment in the spiritual prophecy of Joel 2 28 I can imagine if there was a disagreement amongst them this story would have not been told Thank God for this ma

Thank you for sharing Pastor Grace! Amazingly, I actually have preached these verses of Scripture concerning what these bold, courageous men did for the man who needed and received his healing from Jesus! Their tenacity and creativity caused exactly what they had envisioned to be manifested. Success was their portion! The sermon that I preached about this parable was entitled, “Tear the Roof Off of the Sucker!” Amen. It had been a secular song from the late 1980’s by George Clinton. A message of GREAT FAITH was born there from! Many magnified BLESSINGS to you ALL as we INTENTIONALLY yield OURSELVES continuously to the Father in all the days of this coming New Year 2026!
